At Red Suit Studios, we are so proud to be a local business, supporting our community, and sourcing most of our materials locally and economically.  On our site, you will find an assortment of unique, hand-painted pieces that are all painted with great attention to detail and later inspected to ensure exceptional quality.

We also create ornaments, wall decor and much more - including our napkin rings that are one of our most popular.  All of our Santas are hand painted and stained ceramic bisque, with the exception of a few of our “Restored Santas” which are made from various materials such as wood, resin, and bisque.  We are always finding new and unique pieces to create, so be sure to check regularly for new listings.

The Artist

Deb and her husband live in Searcy, AR. They have 3 grown children and 3 grandchildren. In addition to painting, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, photography, and traveling. Deb recently retired in 2019 and is looking forward to spending more time focusing on painting and building her business. Each Santa she paints is special and unique. Her greatest reward from sharing her artwork is the joy and love she feels when she sees others cherish their hand picked Santas to add to their own Christmas collections, or when customers find the perfect gift for loved ones.

Our History

Red Suit Studios' journey to fruition began back in 1989, when Deb Johnson, the artist and founder of Red Suit Studios, was invited by Pat Holloway to join a small group of women to learn how to paint ceramic Santas. While spending time together mastering the skills to paint gorgeous Santas, the women were also mentored by Pat on how to navigate through life while being wives and mothers to small children. This was the beginning of a wonderful art and hobby. However, family and work responsibilities began to pick up speed causing Deb to take a 20 year long break from painting. That is until one morning, when her spark was reignited for painting while she was cleaning her makeup brushes. So she dusted off her supplies and began painting Santas once again. Friends and family were so excited with her work that they encouraged her to make them available for purchase.  So with a lot of hard work, research, and help from Deb’s family, Red Suit Studios was created in 2010. She hasn’t looked back since.
